State of the Game: An Eye on Eye of the North

News | Sept. 17, 2007 (10 months, 1 week ago) | by Kody | via www.guildwars.com | Filed in Guild Wars

The latest State of the Game, written by Harold J. Chow, takes a look at the newly released Guild Wars expansion: Eye of the North. Harold weighs in on the effects the expansion has had thus far on the metagame within Guild Wars.

For the first time, Guild Wars introduces new skills without new professions. The ten non-elite skills per profession introduced in Eye of the North have had decidedly less impact on the GvG metagame than the dramatic upheavals of Factions and Nightfall. But this doesn't mean the new skills show no promise. Some guilds have already begun incorporating GW:EN skills into existing builds, while others seem primed to make an impact in the near future.

More specifically, Harold talks about Cure Hex, Smoke Powder Defense, Knee Cutter, Power Lock, Shell Shock, Ghostly Weapon, Defile Defenses, Spear of Redemption and Signet of Mystic Speed, among others.

If you're not familiar with Eye of the North but want to dig in to GvG, it would be a good idea to give this at least a once-over. Even if you don't own the expansion, you'll no doubt come across players using these skills, so knowing what to expect is a good thing.
